Let Me Introduce Myself

I grew up in Cadott Wisconsin, about 180 miles north of Madison. After attending the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, I moved to Madison where I have been living for the past 40 years or so.

I live on the east side of Madison with my wife Irene, our dog Gizmo, and two cats.

Irene has two sons and five grandchildren and I have two sons and 6 grandchildren. My oldest son is an English teacher and my youngest son is a Vocal Music teacher.

Irene and I love camping. We have a Jayco travel trailer that works just fine for the two of us and our traveling zoo.  A couple of years ago we purchased a share in a Florida campground where we now have our own private lakeside campsite.  We spend a couple of months down there in the winter.

I dabble in music, playing the Mountain Dulcimer and the Harmonica.  I am just good enough to attract a crowd of curious onlookers who scratch their heads and mutter under their breath.  I recently acquired a Hammered Dulcimer... Now that is a real challenge...

In October of 2004 my life turned upside down when I was diagnosed with cancer.  November 2004 was surgery and chemotherapy started in January 2005.  I lost all my hair including my eyebrows.  My doctor told me that I would not have a lot of energy so I should save my strength for things I liked to do.  Gee… that sounded good to me…

I have always liked to cook, so in May of 2005 I drove to Kansas City MO to take a class in BBQ.  This became an obsession with me and I joined the Kansas City Barbeque Society.   I “Do the Q” almost every week end at home.  BBQ and camping go together so well - I have even traveled to neighboring states to compete in BBQ cooking contests.  My oldest Son joins me at the cooking contests.  We are known as “Barking Pig BBQ”

In my spare time I volunteer as a driver and deliver “Meals on Wheels” to the elderly.

I began my Real Estate career about 15 years ago.  Early in my career I saw the importance of a new tool, the internet.  That was in the early years of the internet when most people didn’t even know what Email was.

I was the first Realtor in the entire area to have a web site.  That same year through my internet site and Email, I helped a family from Dublin Ireland move to the Madison area.  Since then I have helped people from all over the country and even several families from Canada find homes in the Madison area.
